How to calculate your life path number
Add every digit of your full birth date, then keep reducing until you reach a single digit — unless you land on 11, 22 or 33, the master numbers, which you never reduce further.
- Write out your birth date, e.g. 14 / 07 / 1990.
- Reduce each part: day 14 → 1+4 = 5; month 07 → 7; year 1990 → 1+9+9+0 = 19 → 1+9 = 10 → 1+0 = 1.
- Add the results: 5 + 7 + 1 = 13 → 1+3 = 4.
- So this birth date is Life Path 4. (If a total lands on 11, 22 or 33 at any stage, stop — you have a master number.)

Your life path number is the core figure in numerology. It is calculated from your full birth date and reduced to a single digit from 1 to 9, or to a master number: 11, 22 or 33. It describes your temperament, your strengths and the direction that fits you best.
How do I calculate my life path number?
Reduce the day, the month and the year of your birth separately, add the three results, then keep reducing until you reach a single digit (or a master number 11, 22, 33). Is numerology the same as astrology?
No. Astrology reads the positions of planets and stars, while numerology works from numbers, chiefly your birth date and name. Many people use both together: your life path and your birth chart answer different questions about the same person.
What is the difference between Life Path and Expression number?
Your Life Path number comes from your birth date and describes the road you're walking and how you naturally move through life. Your Expression (or Destiny) number comes from the letters of your full birth name and describes your talents and what you're here to accomplish. In short: Life Path is the journey, Expression is the toolkit you bring to it.
What are master numbers in numerology?
Master numbers are 11, 22 and 33. Unlike other totals, they are not reduced to a single digit because they carry an intensified version of their root: 11 amplifies the 2, 22 the 4, and 33 the 6. They point to greater potential but also a steeper, more demanding path.
How do I calculate my Soul Urge number?
Take your full birth name, keep only the vowels (A, E, I, O, U), assign each its numerology value, add them together and reduce the total to a single digit or a master number.
